We've Got a Funk Bun in the Oven!

We found out on Sunday, January 11th that we are expecting our first child! We are so thrilled! I am now 14 weeks along (just starting my 2nd trimester) and, as you can see, we have a perfectly forming gummy bear in there (ultrasound from my 11 week visit).

On March 10th I had my nuchal translucency exam which is a 3D ultrasound testing for chromosonal abnormalities. It requires measurements of the bridge of the nose and the back of the neck. It took about 45 minutes and they actually measured much more than that....they measured all the internal organs, the heart, blood flow to all the organs, size of the placenta, my blood flow to the placenta, size of the cranium, etc. They counted all 10 fingers and toes too! We also found out during that appointment that:

IT'S A BOY!!!

We are so thrilled! We both didn't have a preference; just the hope of a healthy child, but now that we know either way, we're so excited to plan for him instead of just "a baby". His name is: Ryken Gary Funk and we can't wait to introduce him to the world :)
